Living area calculator (WoFlV)
Enter the floor areas of your rooms and choose how they count. The calculator shows the living area under the German Living Space Ordinance.
How the calculator works
The German Living Space Ordinance (WoFlV) counts floor areas with a clear height of at least 2 m in full, areas between 1 and 2 m high at half, and areas under 1 m not at all (§ 4 WoFlV).
Balconies, loggias, roof gardens and terraces usually count at a quarter, at most at half. Unheated conservatories and swimming pools count at half. Cellars, storage rooms outside the flat and garages do not count.
The WoFlV is binding for subsidised housing in Germany and is often used in tenancy agreements. Other methods such as DIN 277 give different values.
